They left the poor animal in the sun without giving her any attention, until one day, she just couldn't take it anymore.

Bella - because that's what this gorgeous creature is called - eventually got sick and tired of being ignored and left to suffer all the time, so she jumped. However, the chain around her neck didn't agree with her decision at all, so she didn't manage to land. Instead, she remained there, hanging from the balcony.

You'd think someone - her owners maybe - would do something to help release her from that painful grip, but that wasn't the case. Not at all. The people who saw her from below couldn't do anything but panic and scream until rescuers arrived at the spot and came into action.

Anyway, Bella stood there hanging for no less than five hours and frankly, it's a miracle that she even made it out alive. However, the jump didn't leave her unscathed, and the ones who managed to save her were horrified to see that the damn rusty chain had cut pretty deeply into her neck, leaving her with a possibly infected wound that made it eerily easy for them to see her bones underneath the bloody muscles, skin and fur.

Needless to say, she was in desperate need of a skilled vet, immediate surgery and some really intense post-op therapy. Euthanasia was not a solution, because putting a dog that didn't even have a chance to enjoy living, not to mention that it is also totally against the beliefs of the people living there.

The Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals, or ESMA, for short, was quick to offer Bella all the medical attention that she needed. As you can see in the picture below, she actually started to heal right away, as if she were blessed. Who knows, maybe it's all the positive energy of the people who heard her story on Facebook that kicked in and helped her get better. Their donations were helpful too.

Once Bella got better, the guys at ESMA called the Special needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation(SNARR), which is based in the U.S.A. They were more than eager to welcome Bella and help her make a full recovery, with a view to finding her a loving family that would lavish her with all the love she deserves.

And that's exactly what happened. After a little while spent in a foster home in Massachusetts, where she was being taken care of and learning what it's really like to be loved for the very first time in her life, until family from Houston, Texas heard her story and decided that she was just the right dog for them.
