In one of the biggest and busiest shopping malls in Australia people were witnesses to a disturbing scene that happened on Thursday. We must warn you that the video contains some disturbing events.

How Did It Happen

It was a usual busy day at a Hornsby shopping mall, and no one expected things could escalate so rapidly. The man, identified as Jerry Sourian, was seen brandishing a kitchen knife as he wandered around the mall “babbling incoherently” and disturbing people. Soon, two officers were at the scene, telling him to "lay on the ground". As he disobeyed the order, one police officer started to shoot.

As you can see on the video, the man dodged the bullets, but an innocent bystander was injured. Officers repeated the orders for man to lay on the ground, and when he didn't listen, second officer fired his gun, shooting the man three times. The man ended up with injuries to his arm, thigh and abdomen. Police confirmed Sourian did not stab anyone and the three bystanders, who include an 82-year-old woman and 65-year-old woman, are in a stable condition in hospital.

Mrs Pendleton, 82, was hit in the back of the knee while trying to run away from Sourian. Elaine For, 65, suffered a gunshot wound to the lower leg and recently retired grandmother Anne-Marie Petitfils, 60, was hit in the calf and had two rounds of surgery.
